Meditation and Mindfulness

There are many practices of meditation.  Whether it is a formal practice, or just self-practice, mindfulness of one’s own body and sensations improves and deepens our awareness of ourselves and our surroundings which can help to open blocks to our own energy and aid in our body-mind healing.

For more that 2500 years, Buddhist monks have known that practicing meditation leads to increased inner strength, calmness, and self-awareness, strengthen contact with subconscious feelings and thoughts, and higher spiritual growth.  Scientists at Harvard Medical School have found that regular meditation can also alter the structure of the brains.  There is increasing neuroscience supporting the healing power of meditation and mindfulness.

Mindfulness, as taught and practiced since the time of Buddha, means dwelling fully in the present moment, aware of what is going on within and around us. Mindfulness helps us take care of and improve the situation of our lives and our society.
